Bengaluru: Number of cases of criminal activity called love jihad are on the rise in Karnataka. As a result, there is an increase in clamor for framing a special law to prevent the menace.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Monday assured strong action in the matter to Hindu Jana Jagriti Samiti. He said that the BJP government in Karnataka will make all efforts to create a special task force. This task force will tackle the growing menace of love Jihad.
The Hindu outfit had met the minister after considering the increasing number of disappearance of Hindu girls and women.
“I have taken cognisance of the increasing number of disappearances and directed speedy investigation into such cases. Along with this, I will discuss the creation of a special police force to prevent love jihad at the parliamentary discussion,” he told reporters here.
Jnanendra said that the BJP government will also work towards eliminating anti-social elements to maintain law and order. Earlier, the central minister Giriraj Singh had also expressed his displeasure at the growing menace of Love Jihad.
While meeting the minister, the Hindu outfits submitted a memorandum stating, “Despite the implementation of the Prohibition of Conversion Act in the state, love jihad has not yet abated. Hence just like in Uttar Pradesh, an anti love jihad task force should be set up in Karnataka as well.”
The memorandum also asked for banning the notorious Shaheen gang.
It has been noticed that PPI’s Shaheen Gang, an organization of young Muslim women, clerics of madrasas and mosques are involved in love jihad cases. Action should be taken against such organizations and banned immediately.
The government should also investigate foreign funding for Love Jihad, trafficking of young women and use of them for terrorist activities and strict action should be taken against those found guilty.
