New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has put the Congress on the mat before it could create a big chaos in the Parliament over the Tawang clash between Indian army and China’s PLA on December 9.

He alleged that the Congress raised the Tawang clash to avoid questions on the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation’s FCRA cancellation and money it received from the Chinese Embassy and Zakir Naik’s foundation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made these allegations while speaking to reporters outside Parliament House.

He alleged that the RGF received Rs 1.35 crore from the Chinese Embassy. MHA cancelled its registration as the transaction was not according to FCRA rules.

Advertisment

“If they would have allowed it, I would have given an answer in Parliament that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received a grant of Rs 1.35 crores from the Chinese embassy during 2005-06 and 2006-07, which was not appropriate as per the FCRA. So as per the rules, the Home Ministry cancelled its registration,” Shah told reporters here.

Shah alleged that the MHA cancelled registration of the RGF due to one more reason. It had received Rs 50 lakh from the Islamic Research Foundation of Zakir Naik also. RGF received this amount on July 7, 2011.

“I want to ask RGF members, who are Congress members also, why Zakir Naik gave you the funds. The public deserves an explanation,” he said.

What research is RGF carrying out?

Further tearing into the Congress, Shah questioned the motive of the RGF receiving funds from the Chinese Embassy. He alleged that the Foundation received funds, not to carry out social work but to use it to research India-China relationship.

“Were the thousands of hectares of land grabbed by China in the 1962 war included in their research? What did the report say? Did they research how Nehru’s love [for China] led to India’s inability to be part of the UN’s Security Council? If they did, what was the outcome of the research?” he asked.

“When our soldiers were fighting with Chinese soldiers in Galwan, who was hosting dinner for Chinese Embassy officials? Was it part of their research? If yes, what was the outcome of the research?” Shah further questioned.

The Home Minister continued: “When they were in power in 2006, the Chinese Embassy claimed Arunachal Pradesh and Nephi. Was it part of their research? If yes, what was the outcome?

“On May 25, 2007, China refused to give visas to Congress CM Dorji Khandu. They claimed Visa was not needed as Arunachal Pradesh was China’s part. On October 13, 2009, during Manmohan Singh’s Arunachal visit, China objected. Were these incidents part of their research?” he asked.

Shah added: “In 2010, China started issuing stapled visas to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Was it part of your research? In 2011, after China’s warning, the Congress government stopped working on construction of roads. It also stopped work on vital modern infrastructure. Why did Congress stop it? Did they research it?”

Proud of our soldiers: Shah

“I want to inform the Congress party that such a dual face does not work in public. They are watching you,” he said.

Lauding the Indian army for showing their valour against China’s PLA on December 9 at Tawang sector, Shah said no one will be able to grab even an inch of the land till the time BJP remains in power.

“On December 8 and December 9, our soldiers showed great valour and they pushed all the intruders within a few hours and saved our land.”
