Murder of Daya Bhel in Pakistan highlights need of CAA
Daya Bhel:Left (killed for being a Hindu)

Daya Bhel was a 40 years old widow in Sindh, Pakistan. Her murder will be an ugly blot on humanity. More so for those who opposed the implementation of CAA or the Citizenship Amendment Act in India.

Minorities in Pakistan have always been on receiving end, but recently they are facing the worst kinds of violence. Clerics unleash Islamic mobs against them. Muslims vandalise their places of worship. Daylight brutal murders of minorities have become order of the day. Atrociously enough, Bilawal Bhutto is schooling India about minority rights, in the midst of all this mayhem.

Brutal murder of Daya Bhel

In March, local Muslims shot dead an 18 years old Hindu girl in Pakistan’s Sindh region and threw her body on the streets. And now, a 40 years old Hindu widow, Daya Bhel, in the same region was subjected to the worst possible savagery. Perpetrators peeled off her skin, chopped her breasts, beheaded her body and dumped her remains. Gruesome story of this gory killing was first leaked to the world by Krishna Kumari. She disclosed the details after visiting the village of Daya Bhel. Krishna is Pakistan’s first female senator from the Hindu community.

The sheer extent of barbarity is spine chilling. Majority community of Pakistan is habitual of subjecting Hindu minorities to the worst possible atrocities. Muslim fanatics constantly target Hindus in Pakistan. But this incident is a wake-up call for the entire world, because what happened to Daya Bhel cannot be allowed to go unchecked.

Advertisment

Today, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilwal Bhutto must realise that they are no different from the terrorists they breed and terrorists they depend on. Pakistan, had been and, is a hotbed of terrorism. A nation, which is facing the impact of its own terror sponsorship, must wake up. The world should not not let it slide to utter chaos and anarchy.

Need for CAA

Such blood-curdling murders in volatile Pakistan precisely justify the need for immediate implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). This act allows persecuted minorities from neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan to get citizenship in India. Obviously, India is the only place, where these haunted and hunted people can seek protection for their life and liberty.

And it is also time for so-called “Liberals” to open their eyes and stop blindly opposing its enactment. CAA deals with people who have already entered India before 31 December 2014. Those coming thereafter have to undergo the regular legal process and paperwork. Just the like the one that singer Adnan Sami went through.

Liberal minds must ask themselves this question: “Should the Brutes, who killed Daya Bhel, be granted citizenship under CAA?”
