In wake of the recent clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector, AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the Central Government to boycott Chinese goods.
“Now and then, China has been threatening us for the last few years on the border. The soldiers of our country are bravely tackling Chinese. They are resolutely responding to them. But here, what is the compulsion of the BJP government that it is increasing trade with China? I appeal to the country to boycott Chinese goods. We will buy goods made in India only,” he said in his address at AAP’s 11th National Council Meeting in Delhi.
He said India is increasing its trade with China while the latter has occupied our territories. He questioned increasing of trade with Chinese. As per him, in 2020-21, India imported goods worth 65 billion dollars from China, and in 2021-22 India imported goods worth 95 billion dollars from the neighbouring country. He said if the country will stop importing from that nation, the latter will learn a lesson.
Questioning the centre government’s “helplessness”, he said, “India is importing things like toys, slippers, and clothes from China. We can also manufacture these items in our country. We are ready to pay a premium price for such products if they are made in India.”
AAP is hypocrite: Shehzad
Meanwhile, calling Kejriwal a hypocrite, BJP’s spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, “His government in Delhi gave CCTV cameras tender to a Chinese company, which was on US radar for national security. And this man is goading on this issue. It is hypocrisy.”
He further pointed towards the trade deficit figures of “AAP’s ally” Congress. “Where was his aggression regarding trade deficit at that time. This is Kejriwal’s hypocritical stand. He also questions surgical strikes, Batala house and Pulwama. He should focus on cleaning nullahs and nullahis of Delhi of whose incharge he has been made,” Shehzad further slammed the Delhi CM.
