Kalicharan Maharaj has a peculiar quality about himself. He is not political correct. He had made some remarks, that were critical of M.K.Gandhi. Congress party has not taken these remarks lightly. Chhattisgarh Police has arrested Kalicharan Maharaj from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. It is in direct contravention of the protocols.
Reportedly, the Chhattisgarh police has filed an FIR against Kalicharan Maharaj. Police have invoked articles 505(2) and 294 of IPC. The complainant is Pramod Dubey, a Congress leader who has been a Mayor of Raipur. Dubey has filed the complaint in Tikrapara Police Station.
According to ANI, the Chhattisgarh police has added sections 153A(1)(a), 153B(1)(A), 295A and 505(1)(B) also.
Madhya Pradesh government, has said that the action by Chhattisgarh Police is in violation of inter-state relations protocol. MP Govt has objected to the action and asked the DGP to get in touch with his counterpart in Chhattisgarh. DGP will ask for a clarification from the erring Police.
NCP also turns Gandhian
Kalicharan Maharaj is at the target of NCP also. Jitendra Awhad, a minister in the MVA government has also filed a complaint against him. Awhad has filed his complaint with Naupada police of Maharashtra.
The incident took place on December 26 in a Dharm Sansad held at Chhattisgarh. Kalicharan Maharaj had applauded Nathuram Godse in his speech. He had expressed his critical views regarding Gandhi. In his opinion, Gandhi was responsible for partition.
Later on, he stated that he stands by his comments on Gandhi and Godse.
Next day, Bhupesh Baghel, the CM of Chhattisgarh, called Kalicharan Maharaj as a Pãkhandi (show-off). When confronted by media regarding the arrest of Maharaj, Baghel has justified the arrest.
In his tweet, he has added political overtone to the arrest. He has asked BJP leaders to clarify their stance. Are they glad that the person who abused “Father of the Nation” Mahatma Gandhi or not?
It seems more a game of political tactics than a genuine concern for Gandhi’s reputation. Should a CM be using misleading terms like “Father of the Nation” when it is not an official designation?
