Of late, Simranjit Singh Mann, Member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur in Punjab, has become more vitriolic. He is publicly airing anti Hindu, as well as, anti India sentiments. He continues to openly bat for the creation of Khalistan, a separate country for Sikhs. His provocative statements have raised a lot of eye-brows.

The Lok Sabha member’s Twitter bio shockingly reads “striving for Khalistan (A Sovereign State For Sikhs). He is also the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). He has been addressing the country as “Hindu Indian state” repeatedly. Moreover, he is accusing his own nation of “violation of international laws and human rights.”

True News India scrolled through Simranjit Singh Mann’s Twitter account to know more about his recent views and perspectives. And what we found is shocking.

Hindu Indian State?

India, through its MEA, had asked Canada to put a check on separatist activities in Canada. For example, the so called referendums sponsored by Khalistanis have led to violence in the past.

Advertisment

In one of his recent posts, he tweeted in reaction to this advisory. “Canada is a sovereign & an independent state which does not believe in the authority of and has no reason to listen to the diktats of Hindu Indian state. Hindu Indian state has not honoured its obligations to International law and Human Rights and has no right to lecture Canada.”

Running down ones own country, by a Member of Parliament, is a new low.

Another one of his tweets reads, “I have also been disallowed to enter Jammu & Kashmir where under arbitrary laws the Hindu Indian state is committing horrendous crimes against the Kashmiri Muslims.”

Hatred for Shri Ram

A look at another tweet reveals Mann’s hatred for Hindus and India. The tweet was in response to an article written in a Chandigarh based leftist newspaper. The article had an oblique reference to Mann and his maternal grandfather. His maternal grandfather, Arur Singh, had given ‘Siropa’ to General Dyer. It is considered a blot in Sikh history.

“What’s written against me and my Grandfather makes me proud that our family never sucked up to the Hindutva. What is important to me is that I have continued with my family’s tradition in not bowing before Hindutva or ever saying Jai Hind & Jai Ram Ji Ki.”

Separatist Mindset

He even wants referendums in Indian states. “Hindu India state has accepted Russia’s referendums held in Ukraine’s captured lands, but it has rejected referendums held in Canada. It is not holding elections to Sikh Parliament from 11 years, also rejects UNSC fiat of 1948 for Plebiscite in Kashmir.Does it believe in democracy?,” he tweeted.

Simranjit Singh Mann did not even spare father of Gandhi and first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. “Gandhi was not a man of peace. He only wanted a majoritarian Hindu state. Gandhi along with Nehru & Patel favoured the split in two, one which was Pakistan for Muslims and India for Hindus. Sikhs who could have gained a separate sovereign state were left high and dry,” he goes on to allege.

Bhagat Singh was a terrorist: Mann

Simranjit Singh Mann had earlier stirred a controversy by calling freedom fighter Bhagat Singh a “terrorist.” His controversial views, be it sectarian, Khalistani or on radical Sikh issues and “non-panthic”freedom fighters has continued. He seems to have been avoided by the authorities as just a “fringe”. But unfotunately, since he is now an MP, people are wondering does he even has a right to be in the parliament.

Mann, an ex-IPS officer, had resigned in protest against Op Bluestar in 1984, and had not won a single election since 1999 when he had wrested the Sangrur parliamentary seat. He had managed to win the Sangrur bypoll by over 5,800 votes early this year. The election had seen a five-cornered fight.
