New Delhi:National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has come to rescue of thousands of students. Especially the non-Muslim students forced to study Islamic superstition. It issued notices to all state chief secretaries to identify madrassas where non-Muslim students are studying. NCPPCR has asked them to shift the young minds from madrasas to schools.
The child rights body chief Priyank Kanoongo, told ANI, “We received complaints from various places about non-Muslim students attending madrasas. These madrasas are funded or recognized by the govt. We issued notices to all state chief secretaries to identify such madrasas. Furthermore, we have asked them to shift non-Muslim students from these madrasas to schools.”
Priyank slammed the statement of Chief of Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Board. The NCPCR chief said, “The board made objectionable and silly statement that it’ll continue to admit non-Muslim students in madrassas. We’ve written to Special Secy Minorities that giving Islamic edu to non-Muslim students is a violation of Article 28(3) and asked them to reply within three days.”
Chairman of Madrasa Education Council, Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, had reacted to the notice. Earlier, he had urged the NCPCR to reconsider their letter urging states and UTs to conduct to inquire into the matter.
The child rights panel had issued directions to get facilitate admissions of non-Muslim students to formal schools subsequent to the inquiry besides the mapping of all unmapped madrasas.
Madrasas primarily impart Islamic indoctrination to children. The curriculum of madrasas includes medieval texts like Quran and Hadith. Currently, we have three types of Madrasas “Recognised Madrasas”, “Unrecognised Madrasas” and “Unmapped Madrasas”.
