Mumbai/Delhi: A complaint lodged by the father of Shraddha Vikas Walker, who was brutally cut into 35 pieces by her Muslim lover Aftab Amin Poonawalla, has revealed that the accused used to beat the deceased.

Shraddha’s father Vikas Madan Walker, in the complaint with the Mumbai police, claimed that Aftab was frequently picking up fights with her daughter and physically assaulting her.

He said that Shraddha was informing about it to her mother until her death. After death of her mother, she began communicating it to him.

Shraddha’s friends Shivani Mahtre and Laxman Nadar were also concerned. They told him about the deteriorating relationship between his daughter and Aftab. Friends also told him about the physical assaults inflicted on her, Vikas alleged.

“She (Shraddha) came to meet me and told me the same thing. I told her to leave Aftab Amin Poonawalla and come back home. But when Aaftab Amin Poonawalla apologised, she went back to live with him. Thereafter, Shraddha’s friends, Shivani Mahtare and Laxman Nadar told me that the relationship between Shraddha and Aaftab was not good. They told me that he used to beat her,” the police complaint read.

The complainant stated that his daughter started to work for a call centre in Mumbai, where Aaftab also used to work, in 2018. Next year, Shraddha announced the relationship with Aftab to her parents who did not approve of it. Both parents tried to convince Shraddha against her decision, but she moved in with Aftab.

After some days, Shraddha started to call her mother complaining against Aftab who was quarrelling and beating her up, Vikas alleged.

After Vikas failed to establish contact with Shraddha, he filed a missing case with Manikpur police station in Maharashtra.

The police transferred the case to Mehrauli in Delhi. This was done after the investigating officer found out that Shraddha was living with Aftab in Chattarpur area.

As per reports, Additional DCP South district Ankit Chauhan informed that both came to Delhi in late April or early May and Aftab strangulated her and later chopped up her body into multiple parts.

Aftab started to dispose off the body parts for months, and in the meantime, stored them in his newly-purchased fridge.

The police has arrested the accused. Court has granted a five-day police custody for further interrogation.
