Begusarai Police has arrested one Mohammad Amir from Tamil Nadu on charges of kidnapping a minor Hindu girl. The victim used to attend tuition classes run by Mohammad. Victim is 15 years old. It might well turn out to be a case of Love Jihad.
On November 21, Ritu (name changed) went to attend her tuition class, as usual. But she did not return at her usual time. Her anxious parents started searching for her. Then they came to know that Mohammad Amir was missing along with their daughter.
The family went to the police station in order to lodge a complaint. The father Sunil Ram, told media persons that Ritu had been studying at the tuition centre for last four years. Apparently, Mohammad had groomed the minor girl to marry him.
Ritu’s mother Sunita Devi filed an F.I.R. with at the Fulbadia police station in district Begusarai, Bihar. Sunita Devi alleged that Mohammad has kidnapped her 15 year old girl. The F.I.R. was lodged under section 366-A of the Indian Penal Code. Police registered the complaint on November 22 and started looking for Mohammad Amir and the girl.
Taking cognisance of the serious nature of the crime, police formed a team of competent officers. Police launched a manhunt for the culprit. Cops used the call details and phone locations to catch Mohammad. Finally, on December 1, police was able to arrest Mohammad Amir from Tamil Nadu.
During the intervening period of 10 days, family members of Mohammad Amir tried to intimidate Sunil Ram. The father of girl, Sunil Ram has alleged that Mohammad’s acquaintances were putting pressure on him to withdraw his complaint.
The girl has been re-united with her family and Mohammad Amir is in police custody. Begusarai police is investigating whether it is a case of Love Jihad or not.
