The report that the Islamic regime of Iran has disbanded its notorious morality police has turned out to be Iran’s propaganda. A noted journalist based in Iran has revealed this.
“The source of today’s news turned out to be poorly researched. Why wasn’t there proper fact-checking? Why did the international community so readily consume this poor journalism? This was pure propaganda by the regime to calm the ongoing anti-regime uprisings,” journalist Masih Alinejad said in a tweet.
She said many news media including the New York Times regarded disinformation about the abolition of the morality police as a victory of anti Hijab protests, yet Iranians are not just asking for an end to morality police, but an end to this regime. Alinejad said the international media outlets must learn that the Islamic Republic spreads propaganda when it is in trouble. “The Iranian regime did in 2017 and as they did today. This is their modus operandi,” she said.
She further said, “A regime can’t kill more than 450 protesters in 2 months including 62 children, pressure their families to keep quiet, arrest 18,000 people, sentenced many of them to death penalty and then say the morality police has been suspended. Don’t buy the Islamic regime’s lies,” she said.
Earlier media houses had reported that the Iran government had disbanded its morality police after receiving flak from across the world. The police were responsible for the death of Mahsa Amini in custody. The morality police had arrested her for not wearing hijab, which is mandatory wear as per Iran laws.
Worldwide support for anti Hijab movement
Iranian women have been protesting for more than two months against the regressive dress code. Personalities, world over have extended solidarity to these brave women.
In India, women from Kerala have supported the anti Hijab protests. Unfortunately, most of the bollywood celebrities have failed to muster courage to support anti Hijab movement. Only Urvashi Rautela has been bold enough to raise her voice in support of Iranian women. TV news anchor Geeta Mohan has also extended solidarity to the protests.
