Mumbai: A video featuring Yogi Adityanath and Suniel Shetty has gone viral on social media. Yesteryear actor Suniel Shetty asked for Yogi Adityanath’s help in saving the film industry. He was referring to the growing negative public perception about Bollywood. Shetty mentioned the Boycott Bollywood hashtags on social media and asked Adityanath to intervene. He asked UP CM to seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support in putting an end to those.

He further went on to say: “Ninety-nine percent of the people in Bollywood are good. We don’t do drugs all day and we are associated with good things also. There are rotten apples in every sphere, but that does not make everyone a rotten apple.”

It is quite astonishing that Suniel Shetty told this to Yogi. It is astonishing because he told this to the most powerful chief minister and a potential Prime Minister of India. Besides, nobody can deny the stack of unsaid information the chief minister has. The Bollywoodians should have known this.

Referring to his “rotten apples” comment, it would be foolish on the part of Bollywoodians that they can fool Yogi. It is an open secret that there are many rotten apples.

Bad apples and Dawood connection

In December 2007, Suniel Shetty’s alleged links with wanted international terrorist Dawood Ibrahim had gone public. Mumbai crime branch had questioned the actor. It was in connection with a case relating to underworld don Chhota Shakeel’s aide Iqbal Attarwala. Iqbal is a prime accused in a land-grabbing case in Mumbai.

The crime branch had questioned film stars Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Shilpa Shetty, Esha Deol, Priyanka Chopra and Malaika Arora Khan in that case. Police were probing Bollywood personalities’ links to Attarwala, who used to organise shows for Dawood and Chhota Shakeel.

Suniel Shetty’s company, Popkorn Entertainment, had produced a dance show and celebrity exhibition cricket matches. It conducted these events in the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi for Show Blitz. This Show Blitz is Attarwala’s event management company. The crime branch’s joint commissioner of police had said that Shetty was summoned to know if he had visited UAE under a proper contract. Had he gone there due to a personal relationship with the producer, or under pressure from criminal elements.

Dawood’s role in Bollywood

There is a growing feeling that his funds are used in Bollywood to fuel propaganda. It glorifies Mohammedanism and denigrates Hinduism in subtle manner. His pygmies in left-oriented publications and ecosystem mock Hindus. Simultaneously, they hide the crimes of jihadi Islamists in mainstream media. Bollywood is an extension of mainstream media, literature and media ecosystem funded by breaking India forces, and one among them is Dawood.

By asking CM Adityanath to request PM Modi to stop the boycott hashtags, Suniel Shetty exposed Bollywood’s IQ level. Modi and Yogi are not in that position by themselves, they are there because of the people of India.

Instead of pleading before Yogi, Shetty and Co. could have met Sushant Singh Rajput’s family members. The anger among general public is a major driver of Boycott Bollywood movement. They are the ones who continue to demand a high-level probe into SSR’s death or issue an open public apology for being silent after his death.

From Shetty’s plea it is clear that many Bollywoodians continue to remain in denial of the underlying reasons behind the movement, and are ignorant on who is driving it. It is general public that is behind this movement. The reason is Bollywood’s anti-Hindu, anti-India and pro-jihad, pro-Pakistan content. If they start disassociating from these elements, may be, the public will relent. But this will need introspection on part of Bollywood.
