New Delhi: It is no secret that Congress politicians survive on sycophancy. Ego-massaging the dynasts is the only formula for successful career in the party. It has been so since the times of M.K.Gandhi. In the latest example, former Minister of External Affairs, Salman Khurshid has scaled new height of sycophancy by comparing Rahul Gandhi with Lord Ram.
He was addressing media in Moradabad on 26th December when he made the controversial statement. Reporters were asking Khurshid, if and when will Rahul Gandhi’s yatra reach Uttar Pradesh. He said: “Lord Ram’s ‘khadau’ goes very far. Sometimes when Ram ji is not able to reach, Bharat takes the ‘khadau’ and goes to places. Like that, we have carried the ‘khadau’ in UP. Now that ‘khadau’ has reached UP, Ram ji (Rahul Gandhi) will also come.”
Salman Khurshid, not only equated Rahul Gandhi to Sri Ram, but also created a niche for himself as Bharat, the younger brother of Lord Ram. Again, he likened Rahul to a yogi and a tapasvi. He said: “Rahul Gandhi is superhuman. While we are freezing in the cold and wearing jackets, he is going out in T-Shirts (for his Bharat Jodo yatra). He is like a yogi doing his ‘tapasya’ with focus.”
This is an insult to Sri Ram and Hindu deities by Khurshid. This is happening because there is a mad rush among the Congress leaders to please the fake Gandhis. Doesn’t this Congress leader know who Sri Ram is? Why not compare this yatra with Hijrat of Islamic prophet? Or any of his numerous travels and raids on Caravans of Meccans?
It seems, Congress party is committed to demean and insult the Hindu Aastha (faith), as well as sensibilities. After denying Sri Ram’s existence and blocking Ram Mandir in the Court, senior leaders of this party are now comparing a petty politician to Lord Ram. The politician who notoriously said that those who go to temple are eve-teasers.
When the controversy grew, Khurshid tried to defend his action blatantly. He said that many people name their kids as Ram. Why do they do it? Do you know what is a metaphor? What is a proverb (Muhawara)?
When we express gratitude to someone who has helped us, we say you have come as Bhagwan for us. Why do we say so? If we will not understand the civilisation of Bharat, we will fail. Try to understand India’s civilisation. Try to understand the emotions and feelings with which I said this thing. No one can say that Hindu civilisation just belongs to him. Hindu dharm is a very vast and encompassing Dharm. The entire country reveres and respects icons of Hindu Dharm.
