New Delhi: PM Modi paid rich tributes to the Veer Sons of Guru Gobind Singh on Veer Bal Diwas. He also recounted the glory of Sikh Gurus and Mata Gujari at a programme marking historical day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reminded the nation of the forced conversions by Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
He said: “Guru Gobind Singh stood steadfastly against the terrorism of Aurangzeb and his intentions to change India. But what kind of enmity could Aurangzeb and his sultanate hold against the two innocent children like Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh? Why were they so brutal that they buried them alive? Because Aurangzeb and his people had an agenda. He wanted to change the religion of Guru Gobind Singh’s children by the force of a sword,” Modi added.
Veer Bal Diwas marks bravery and spirituality
The Prime Minister stressed that we should never forget whatever happened in the wars of Chamkaur Sahib and Sirhind. “On one hand there was the mighty Mughal Sultanate blinded by mazhabi fanaticism. On the other hand there were our Gurus. Gleaming in the glory of knowledge and living by the ancient principles of India,” he said.
Continuing further Modi said, “On one hand there were heights of terror and religious fanaticism. On the other hand, there was the pinnacle of spirituality and kindness to see God in every human being. “Mughals possessed an army of millions, while the Veer sons of Guru had their courage. They did not bow down to the Mughals even though they were alone. This is when the Mughals walled them in alive. It is their bravery that has been a source of inspiration for centuries,” he said.
Modi emphasized that a nation must preserve its values. It is possible only when the present generations have clarity about the history of the land. That is why we decided to commemorate the Veer Bal Diwas.
They are our ideals
“The youth always seek a role model to learn and find inspiration. That’s the reason we believe in the ideals of Bhagwan Ram; find inspiration from Gautam Buddha; and Lord Mahavir, and make an attempt to live through the sayings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, while also studying the ways of Maharana Pratap and Chhatrapati Veer Shivaji,” PM remarked.
Highlighting the culture and traditions of India that believes in Dharm and spirituality, he said that the ancestors of our land gave shape to an Indian culture that associates with festivals and beliefs. The Prime Minister said that “we have to make that consciousness eternal, and that is why the country is trying to revive the glory of the history of the freedom struggle during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
He reiterated the need to take the message of the life of Veer Sons of Guru Gobind Singh to the world with full faith and determination. Modi had announced the commemoration of Veer Bal Diwas in January, this year.
