In view of rising threat of “love jihad”, Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel has taken a tough stand. He has asked his party workers to focus on fighting “love jihad.”
While addressing BJP workers in Karnataka’s Mangaluru, Kateel said, “Do not discuss small issues like roads and sewage. If you’re worried about your children’s future, and if you want to stop love jihad, then we need BJP.”
He also asked the party workers whether the people of Karnataka wanted a ‘New Karnataka’ or a ‘Karnataka with terrorists.’ He alleged the Congress is a “party of terrorists.”
The state Nalin Kateel criticised Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar. He said that Shivakumar spoke in support of terrorists. He then charged the leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar of corruption.
In view of numerous cases, Hindu organisations have been demanding a separate law against ‘love jihad’ in the state. They want that the government should introduce a bill regarding this in the winter assembly session in Belagavi. Besides giving a memo of demands to ministers, MPs and MLAs to bring a law, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) along with other pro-Hindu organisations launched a helpline on ‘love jihad’ in Mangaluru. Perhaps, this is the reason for Kateel to raise the issue.
They held that some Muslim men lure Hindu girls in the name of love to convert them. Several such incidents have come to light, but the congress and other liberal parties have been in a denial mode.
Congress avoids discussing “Love Jihad”
In reply to “love jihad” statement from Kateel, Shivakumar tweeted, “No surprises here honestly- when have BJP’s priorities ever been about development or employment? Atleast the party is being honest about it now. Don’t worry people of Karnataka will tell BJP what they are going to choose soon.”
Slamming the statement by Kateel, Congress MLA Priyank Kharge tweeted, “The message is loud and clear by the BJP President. With nothing to showcase to the people, BJP will resort to polarizing the elections. One never hears BJP speak on development of state or about youth’s future.”
