Amroha’s Mohammad Anwar wanted to have sex. He woke up his wife Rukhsar. She was sleepy but eventually she fulfilled his desire. After some time, he again asked her to do the act. She refused. This enraged Mohammad. He killed her for refusing sex.

When Mohammad came to his sense, he decided to get rid of his wife’s body. He wrapped the corpse in a polythene sheet and threw it in Ratupura. This place is 50 kilometre away from his house in Amroha.

He went to police and filed a missing complaint about his wife. Meanwhile Ratupura police spotted the body. The cops circulated the pictures of corpse for identification. Since the photos matched with description of Rukhsar, police called Mohammad Anwar for identification.

He identified the body. On further questioning by the police, he broke down and confessed his crime. He said that in a fit of anger, he strangled her to death with a rope. He was angry with her for refusing sex for a second time.

Islamic position on wife refusing sex

According to Islamic scriptures, a wife should not refuse to have sex with her husband. Islam is also called Mohammedanism because it is based on the sayings and actions of a person called Mohammad. His deeds and sayings are recorded in books called Hadiths. Here is one such Hadith:-

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses [and does not come], and he spends the night angry with her, the angels will curse her until morning.’

Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 59, Hadith 48

Sahih al-Bukhari is considered the most authentic Hadith in Islamic theology. Another Hadith about the rights of husband to have sex with his wife is:-

By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! No woman can fulfill her duty towards Allah until she fulfills her duty towards her husband. If he asks her (for intimacy) even if she is on her camel saddle, she should not refuse.

Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1853

Does the mindset of male chauvinism come from such teachings? Or is it just case of ‘heat of the moment’ rage?
